Threats to survival

Four key categories can be identified to sea turtle survival, although threats vary from one region to another.


Loss of habitat due to coastal development, including tourism and idustrialisation

Human predation due to egg collecting, meat consumption, carapace exploitation

Pollution due to industrial waste, marine debris etc

Photopollution

Collision with motorboats

Accidental capture by fishing activities

Animal predation
